What can I expect at my first session?
Many people are intimidated by the thought of starting counselling. There can be a lot of fears about what to expect. I hope to make things as comfortable and relaxing for you as possible. The therapeutic relationship between you and your therapist is the heart of the healing process.
During the first session, we will explore what has brought you to therapy and what your hopes are counselling look like. The first session is for the therapist and client to get to know each other and together, explore how to proceed in future sessions.
While some concerns may be resolved within one session often, further sessions may be needed. The therapist and client work together to determine whether further session(s) is needed/wanted.
There will be some basic paperwork to complete before the first session. It can be helpful to write down any questions you have to bring into the first session.
To help determine if I might be the right therapist for you, I offer free 15-minute consultation by phone.
I want your experience with counselling to be a positive one!
